We wish to make this process as easy as possible for you. This is how to consult with a dermatologist in 3 easy steps:

Step 1: ASK YOUR VETERINARIAN FOR A REFERRAL

All patients must be referred by their family veterinarian. The dermatologists are specialized in the treatment of allergies, ears, nail and skin disease only. If your pet has any other medical or surgical needs, you should consult with your veterinarian.

Your veterinarian will complete a dermatology referral form, which includes your contact information, and will fax it to Eagle Rise Animal Hospital. We will then contact you directly to set up the appointment.

Step 2: PREPARE FOR YOUR VISIT

Once you have made an appointment with the dermatologist you are invited to complete a thorough history questionnaire in advance of your arrival at Eagle Rise Animal Hospital. Your answers will help us give your pet the best care possible. If you are unsure of how to respond to a question, please ask during the office visit.

IMPORTANT NOTES

Remember to bring the completed form with you to the appointment.

If your pet is referred for intradermal allergy testing, please note that certain medications need to be discontinued prior to the appointment.

If drug withdrawal is not possible, a dermatology consultation is still a valuable option.

If you are unable to keep this appointment, please call (250) 590-8445 at least 48 hours in advance to cancel. Thank you very much!

STEP 3: REVIEW DISCHARGE INSTRUCTIONS

As there is often a lot of information given during the consultation with the dermatologist, we always provide you with a typed summary of the consultation and information about the treatment plan. Your veterinarian will also receive a copy of these instructions.

IMPORTANT NOTES

Dermatology is a specialty service and is not available at all times.

If there are any questions or concerns after you have gone home with your pet, please call your family veterinarian for advice first. Your veterinarian’s office can then contact Eagle Rise Animal Hospital and an Animal Health Technologist will be available to answer any questions or seek advice from the veterinary dermatologists.

Phone calls are a poor substitute for re-check examinations as the dynamics of your pet's condition may have changed.

We are looking forward to seeing you and your pet!
